Is it aching, burning, sharp or shooting? As you check yourself into the doctor, these are common types of symptoms they ask you to describe in terms of pain. Do your joints ache? Is it all the time or does it come and go? How long has it been there? What helps to alleviate your pain? As your healthcare professional fires off these questions like it’s something common, your mind may drift off. It’s hard when you go somewhere and you are treated like arthritis isn’t that big of a deal. While some healthcare workers think it’s a natural part of life, we at Caron Chiropractic Clinic do not! We know how debilitating it is and how it can alter your quality of life. Therefore, our St. Paul, Minnesota chiropractors work hard every day to treat arthritis conditions as much as possible!
Arthritis In All Ages
Most people think of arthritis as something the little old lady down the street had because she was over 100 years old. This could not depict a more false picture. Arthritis is the inflammation of one or more joints that subsequently causes pain and stiffness. It can affect the elderly, people in their prime years of life, and even little babies that are still in diapers. There are over 100 conditions of arthritis, ranging from low impact (like your tendonitis or bursitis) to your more detrimental diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis.
The Physiology of Arthritis
Every joint has a space, or cavity, that gives the bone “wiggle room.” This space is typically enclosed by a flexible capsule that is filled with fluid, synovial fluid, that lubricates and nourishes the joint. Cartilage is also present to prevent bones from grinding onto one another. In arthritic conditions, the synovial fluid that helps to mobilize and lubricate the joint, begins to thicken and become inflamed. When this happens fluid can both damage the cartilage and the bone, leaving you with incredibly painful joints.
Chiropractic Care for Arthritis Relief
Painful joints are the worst. You never quite understand what it’s like to have arthritis until you feel it yourself. The pain can be unbearable. Caron Chiropractic Clinic can help alleviate some of that arthritis pain. Our chiropractors work to improve mobility and decrease the pain. As we increase our client’s range of motion in the affected joint, we help to improve the natural movement of the joint. The more the joint has the ability to move, the more healing the joint can do.
